Anita Mui Classic Moment Live Concert started its opening show on Nov 6th at
HK Coliseum. As Anita Mui is suffering from cervical cancer, so she
intends to conclude her career life as a singer by this concert: [After this
concert, I would like to see you people in another form, maybe a musical.
I am really very tired of singing. I have sung for 20 years already.
It is because there are still people who like to listen to me, so I keep on
singing. ] This concert is perfect, no matter for audio, visual and
artistic appreciation. The only regret is that because of her health
condition, fans can't see her hot dances on the stage.

This concert made the reporter (of this article) realize the difference
between HK Coliseum and the Heaven River Stadium in Guagzhou. Though HK
Coliseum is a stadium, due to its design with the original intention of using
this stadium for large concert, so when you are in the stadium, you don't feel
that you are in a stadium, but in a large concert hall. The acoustic
system is good. The song of the singers are clear and loud. Even
when fans shout, that can be heard clearly. The acoustic arrangement for
this concert is very good too, Anita Mui's voice can be heard by fans at all
corners. Though Anita Mui is suffering from cancer, she is still full of
air and has a very strong voice, and she can sing every word clearly. She
performs every song without reserve of any energy. She makes people feel
that she is stylish as she always is. The concert lasted for 170 minutes,
Anita Mui sang about 70 minutes. Though her voice was a bit coarse, she
sang every song with her complete energy. The Shanghai Symphony Orchestra
is responsible for playing music for Ah Mui for this concert. So Anita Mui
selected mostly classic songs for this concert.

Anita Mui's good friend Eddie Lau designed most of the clothes for her, such
as the red gown that weights 80 lbs. The gown was embroidered with gold
thread, matched with gold veil, and gold boots, and a red diamond at the chest,
that turns her to be a royal queen. This gown is very glamorous, but it is
too heavy. Anita Mui joking said: [If I wear this at my wedding, and when
I kneel down to present tea to the in-laws, I won't be able to stand up, it is
really too heavy." In general, people don't like this costumes too
much, because it is too complicated, and can't bring out Anita Mui's
character. The 2nd costumes is black/white dress of Christian Dior.
It is a long dress touching the floor. It is special with its pleats and
the pattern at the back. Matched with the lender figure of Anita Mui and
her wig of orange hair, that makes her very trendy. The 3rd outfit is very
sexy. The top is embroidered Bra Top, and the bottom is a purple skirt in
shape of a rose. But the design of the bra top seems too sexy, that makes
Anita Mui worry a lot, and she has to be very careful with her movement.
The 4th outfit is the white top and a mini skirt with a gauzed long skirt
covering it. And the outstanding part of this costume is the white long
gauze material sleeve, that gives a very light, flying feel. The 5th
costume is the cheungshan, nothing special about this one. But the
burgundy red color of this cheungshan turns Anita Mui to a rich lady of Old
Shanghai. The last one is the bridal gown. The one best loved by
Anita Mui, and it is the design of Eddie Lau too. This snow white wedding
gown with its trail of more than 20 meters is simple but glamorous, with matched
necklace of 3 huge pearls, it makes people feel Anita Mui is a bride-to-
be.

Being a Super Star, Anita Mui is definitely perfect at the singing art.
For the first night, she only performed her own classic songs, but performed
many songs of other singers, e.g. firs time (not correct,
she performed this song with Jacky Cheung before) she
in duet with Jacky Cheung his song "Blessing", she is as good as Jacky
Cheung, and makes a perfect pair. She also performed Leslie Cheung's
"This Life", Roman's "Love has a price", Danny Chan's
"Love you deeply" and Faye Wong's "I'm willing" and
etc. When she performed the songs of those deceased singers, Anita Mui was
with more feeling, maybe she was looking for some memory in those songs.
Probably due to the change of experience, even when she performed classic songs,
it looked like they have some deeper meaning. For example when she was
performing "Hold tight the person in front of you", she gave a
monologue full of feeling, and telling everybody to treasure the people in front
of us. Also when she was performing "Sunset Song", she
said something deep down from her heart. So when audience were
listening to her songs, at the same time they received a message from
her. She was not being sadly sentimental all the way, as when she
was performing hot dances with 2 foreign dancers, that brought Anita Mui back to
the performance of her past concerts.

Maybe due to her health condition, her "brand" hot dances could not be seen at all. Instead 6 singers junior to her performed her quick songs and danced at the same time, such as "Witch girl", "Bad girl" and "Dream partner", these songs brought us the memory of the other image of Anita Mui. In comparison, when Anita Mui was performing her songs herself during the show, the atmosphere was softer and more peaceful. Though beautiful, it was a regret that Anita Mui's energetic stage style could not be seen.

From the title of this concert [ Anita Mui Classic Moment Life], and as it
accompanied by Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, one would understand the theme of
this concert would be slow classic songs. So why the audience would have
the regret? Last year we just had the Anita Mui's Fantasy Gig Concert that
was full of quick songs and hot dances. Now for a change, to have slow
romantic songs that Ah Mui is specialized in is another enjoyment.
Personally I have looked forward to this form of concert for a long time
already. I believe there are many Hong Kong music lovers feel the same as
I do, otherwise there won't be full house for all 8 shows, now even
consideration of giving another show to make 9.)
